Yesterday was our first session with Year 6's in the Makerspace. Bigger kids, less space but WOW, what an amazing time we had. Learners visited the Year 5/6 page on this website, made their choice of which challenge to complete then set to the task.
We had students....
Building Lego robots
Using Steam bins
Creating digital artwork from 5 year olds drawings (part 1 completed today to create their first sketch using Sketch Book on their iPads......next they need to consider how to make their drawing 3d)
Engineers designing their own robots (out of 'junk')
And a group 'following their passions' and getting 'crafty'! (we are going to revisit this component as this space just couldn't cope with the storing of partly finished constructions and also we needed to plan more thoroughly and stretch our thinking rather than 'pretty up' e.g. pencil holders out of tin cans).
I wonder what the kids will call me, today one said "I'm looking for the Apple Teacher"......and another said "Are you Mrs Maker?" ......funny.
