The Robot Stop book is a rhyming story with fun, flow and loads of learning opportunities. So a room full of Robot rotations for our Year 2's today......Robot Word building challenge, Robot blend puzzles, Robot digraphs, Lego sight words, Dough sight words and Build your Robot buddy.......so many learning opportunities, such fun and smiles all round. What I learnt from today's first session was that this age group still aren't ready for Lego.....despite one girls comment "I'm a girl, I don't know what to do with Lego!" Which I found hilarious.....I swapped the Lego for duplo in the second session and it was an instant hit. Learners commented how they loved the chance to do more than one station and when we reflected at the end of the session they all asked to keep it this format next time. The 10 minute rotations means that building challenges need to 'fast and focused' which for this age group worked really well because they knew they had to make decisions quickly......it also meant I needed to have materials well prepared and plenty of them when learners decided to 'improve' their creations.
I wonder what the kids will call me, today one said "I'm looking for the Apple Teacher"......and another said "Are you Mrs Maker?" ......funny.
